Freedom, right now, seems far away. Politically, we appear to be in the midst of a season of binding and control. But we are not aware of what the Lord is doing. We can only see the surface. Back in the year 1585, the Jewish book “Tikkunei Zohar” warned of deep challenges that would occur, starting last year, 70 years after Israel’s return, that would focus on God separating out good from evil. Thus, I have been watching the last two years with caution, aware that something of great significance would happen that would deeply shake Israel and the world, and even rock the church to its foundations.
Because we all see through a glass darkly, it is hard for us to recognize the hand of God, especially when His actions and motives are shrouded in mystery. We have to look and listen carefully, waiting to see His glory revealed. When our emotions are traumatized, which happens in times of profound shaking, like now, that can feel almost impossible.
But great darkness often conceals and prepares the way for great glory, revealed when God’s light finally shines through. For instance, the religious leadership of Jesus’s day were clueless, lost in the darkness of their misguided expectations, thinking killing Jesus would solve all their problems. At the cross, everybody else also misunderstood God’s hand. But the Scriptures had promised that the Messiah would have His victory in this way (Isaiah 52 and 53) It took the culmination of God’s plan, Jesus’s Resurrection, for His Glorious Light to be revealed. Imagine the joy in the hearts of Jesus’s faithful as the truth dawned upon them. And imagine the horror of those who had placed Him upon the cross. Talk about blowing it!
I submit that this current moment is like that moment. We can’t see what God is doing yet, even when He tells us. As we act upon His word, we must wait for His Light’s Revelation. As we act with zeal, we must wait and be still.
Let us taste and see that the Lord is good. The season of great shaking has begun. God is done with the mixture of good and evil in the world. And He is coming soon. Let us stay faithful till He arrives. Shalom.
