Dear Friends,
Several people have written asking questions about the Wednesday night discussions, so I wanted to clarify. I am using Chuck Missler’s videos as well as other videos and text sites for scientific information for our upcoming “Worshiping the LORD, Exploring the Wonders of Creation” series on Wednesday nights, starting at 7pm. I am NOT a scientist, but simply someone who is passionate about experiencing God in His Creation, and endlessly curious about what messages He has given us through the laws of nature. I am devouring information like some people devour cake! Smile. As I’m learning about the outer reaches of science, the Lord is continuing to fill my brain with what he wants us to talk about on Wednesday evenings. I pray no one gets overwhelmed by the science. We will take the conversation at the speed of Grace. The point of what we are doing is WORSHIP and PRAISE, not understanding all the mechanics of physics.
Please join us, as you like!
NOTE: There are several links at the bottom of this letter.
Here are some topics I would like to discuss during our first session on August 13th, starting at 7pm.
Light (The Speed of Light)
When something is traveling at the Speed of Light, the experience of time, for that “thing,” disappears. “That thing” does not experience the passage of time, and does not age. It lives in eternity. Thus the Speed of Light is the physics gateway to eternity.
Observing light does not make any difference, of course, but moving at the Speed of Light does. The closer we get to the Speed of Light, the more time slows down, and the less influence time has upon us. The closer we get to it, the more we “taste” eternity and the more our lives become influenced by God’s timelessness. Think of that in terms of the Light of Grace. Our compassion can grow so rich it is not constrained by the limitations of our time or circumstances, no longer limited by our natural needs. So much more to explore here…
Pitch Blackness (The Speed of Light)
Within a black hole there is neither time, space nor light. It is truly outer darkness. Things that circle around it, also circle at the speed of light. They are compelled into it by its gravity.
The gravitational field of a black hole is so dense it absorbs and probably destroys light. It emits nothing. Scientists don’t know what goes on inside because they can’t see anything. They see outside its circumference, where the particles and energy swirl around until they are sucked in. It is even assumed that black holes could eventually suck all the universe into themselves, wrapped up like a blanket, removed, drawn into non-existence. That is because they even consume light. Without any light, time or space, things would end up in complete and total outer darkness.
There are lots and lots of black holes. Some of them are only as big as the tip of my pinky finger, and some of them are big enough to hold all of our galaxy. There are black holes at the center of all the galaxies they have researched. Less than an inch of this stuff has the weight/mass of the entire moon!
Think about our common language:
When we are ‘weighed down,” the “gravity” of a situation is pulling on us.
When we sin repeatedly, we become “enticed” by our sins, and they “draw” us further down into darkness.
Whenever we sin and don’t repent, we are drawn into a “vice” of our own creation.
When we repent, and ask for forgiveness, when we forgive others who have hurt us, we are “lifted up” again into God’s Arms of Grace, and AGAIN experience His Speed of Light.
Light and Darkness
We need to pay attention to what calls us to soar within the Light of the LORD and what “pulls us down” by its gravitational pull. “Choose ye this day whom you will serve.”
Waves and Particles
Another topic I have been pondering is the way light functions as both a particle and a wave. What causes us to flow, like a wave, in God’s Spirit, and what causes us to stand strong within our own identity, like a particle, protecting its space? What gives us fluidity in life, and what causes us to become more rigid?
So these are the first three issues I would like to discuss and pray into, as a group.
Looking forward to seeing those of you who can join us on Wednesdays, starting on August 13th. Reminder for people who don’t like to drive at night: There are cabins here where you can stay, and also a couple rooms in the Worship Center.
Blessings and love,
WD
